Mars

Is something going on with Mars? I just heard that Russia is 2 for 16 on Mars missions. They’ve had plenty of success with the Moon and Venus, but no luck with Mars. And while the US has had more successful Mars missions than the USSR, my memory is that most of them were early flyby and stationary explorers. While the Mars rovers have long outlasted their guaranteed time-frames and have returned some incredible pictures and information, they are limited in scope, ability, speed and range. Even the Phoenix lander, which may soon return truly life-altering data, is limited in its scope.

The other recent high-profile missions met with disaster.

So, is there something about Mars, or perhaps someone, that is interfering with these missions? OK, I know that interplanetary missions are fraught with danger and that even the most minuscule error can lead to catastrophe (I used to be a programmer, remember?). But I can’t help but think that this all has the makings of a really cool outer space conspiracy theory.

Are there really Martians? Is something else hiding out around Mars? Is Mars itself alive? And what about Naomi?

Anyone know where I can buy a good tin foil hat? I’d prefer something like they had in the film noir detective stories, sort of an aluminum foil fedora.

You obviously need to return to your cinematic roots.

You must review such educational films as "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058548) and "Martians Go Home" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100116).

Well, how can I pass up a Pia Zadora film?

I think I saw tin foil hats at my local neighborhood Martian outpost. The shape of them were rather unusual...(or not, depending on the amount of heads one is accustomed to having at a given time)

Believe it or not I was one of the few unfortunate children who saw "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" in a theater. It was a very weird movie. It was one of the few times my Dad took my brother and I out by himself. I guess it was a cover so my Mom could Christmas shop. It snowed afterward and felt very Christmassy. Good thing or all I would remember was that awful dubbed movie.

Shudder. You sure dodged one heck of a Christmas memory there.
