Career dissembler

I do have to admit that Romney is campaigning like a corporate CEO.  Not that that’s a good thing, mind you, but he is doing it.

Can you elaborate? I recall supporting GWB for the same reason, thinking a CEO type approach would work. Unfortunately we learned quickly that he wasn't, and it didn't.

It’s admittedly hard to put in words but I was referring to his campaign style not his background. He reminds me of executives I’ve seen talk who will say whatever they think a client wants to hear. They also like to hide details and costs behind the glossy brochure, fake smile and jargon.

Politicians aren’t much different, but the style isn’t the same. Politicians seem to know they have to convince people that they’re serious – even if they aren’t. Romney seems to share a CEO attitude I’ve seen where they expect to be believed and trusted just because they have the title. They also expect the audience to share their views because they are used to operating in a closed system. Everything is private, and Romney seems to act like that at times even when the cameras are on him. He seems to forget he isn’t talking to lesser execs who have to listen to him but to the public he wants to vote for him.

I know that’s vague, but I’d probably need a long post to make more sense. I’ll try and if I can make this clearer I’ll post something on it.
